Heybridge deservedly secured their Ryman League premier division status with a magnificent 3-0 triumph over Essex rivals Canvey.

Things started well when Sean Caton was brought down in the box and Colin Wall converted the spot kick.

Swifts dominated and a driven corner from Caton evaded the Canvey defence for Wall to nod home his second at the far post. Canvey began the second half strongly without threatening Kingsley Banks.

But Swifts weathered the Canvey storm, and on 80 minutes a stupendous run from Alex Fiddes past three defenders allowed him to set Kris Lee free, and he strode on to crash home a well deserved first league goal for the club.

Wivenhoe continued their bid for a top six division two finish with a 3-3 draw at Cheshunt.

Twice they came from behind the snatch a a point. Jason Clewley, Steve Henson and Danny Smith were on target.

Player-manager Julian Hazel was sent off late in the game for retaliation.

Chelmsford City went down 3-0 at Dartford in the Dr Marten's League eastern division. Lee Guiver grabbed two of the goals.
