Last Wednesday saw Harold Hill clinch the League Championship with a 2 - 0 victory over King Harold, both of the goals scored by leading goal scorer Lee Smith and the cup victory sealed the league and cup double.
The match started on a soggy pitch on which a lesser game may not have been played.
Credit went to both sets of players and the officials for an entertaining game in difficult conditions.
It started with Nalgo taking the game to Hill but with some solid defending by Paul Golby, Danny Parker and Mark Blackham at the back Nalgo could not convert thier chances.
As Hill began to push forward through some good wing play a chance fell to Lee Smith, who tucked the ball away past the goalkeeper.
Hill did not take long to double their lead when Mark Lucas won the ball in midfield passed the ball to Lee Smith who, with his first touch, put in a defence splitting low cross to the unmarked Antony Kinnear who hit a rasping drive into the bottom corner of the net.
The second half saw Nalgo start the stronger but they fell further behind, when John Doyle put Mark Lucas through on goal, and with just the goalkeeper to beat, he kept his head and coolly lobbed the advancing goalkeeper to make it 3 - 0.
It seemed as though the game was over but the spirited Nalgo quickly scored two goals to make Hill worry a little but could not get a third to take the game to extra time.
