Every household in the Braintree district is being given the opportunity to learn more about Jesus, through a free video called the Man Behind the Millennium.
This is part of a nationwide operation currently involving more than 1,000 churches throughout the UK.
The Braintree and District Fellowship of Churches will be putting a leaflet explaining the video through every door in the area from Monday, which will be followed by house calls to see who is interested.
Anyone who takes up the offer will be asked if the church can return the following week, to ask them seven questions about the video, but they will not be under any obligation.
Janet Bamforth, who is one of the administrators of the scheme, said: "This is all about introducing people to Jesus. We feel that nowadays, people don't really hear about him very much. This is all about teaching people about real Christian faith."
