PREMIER DIVISION CUP FINAL

There was a tentative start to Sunday's final between Little Waltham and Woodham Town, Waltham's Andy Dunsmuir striking a shot over the bar.

Woodham goalkeeper Antony Davis then flapped at a Rob Jaggard free kick but the danger was cleared.

A controversial incident at the end of the first half, saw Davis foul Allen, and although the Waltham spectators and a few players bayed for a red card, referee Steve Connor only showed a yellow, as two defenders were coming round to cover.

Waltham began the second half well, and on 60 minutes Colin Moorcock took advantage of Nicholas's cross to head home the first goal.

Goals then came aplenty, as Tony Cornwell equalised for Woodham before a near post strike by Nicholas restored the Waltham advantage.

Woodham rallied again, and Large scored from close range and the match went into extra time.

Chances continued to come at both ends and veteran Alan Beard headed the third and winning goal for Waltham.

Dines hit the Woodham crossbar with a free kick late on, and a well contested game finished with Waltham winning 3-2.

COWARD CUP SEMI FINAL

Favourites Heybridge Social failed to rise to the occasion and they have now lost two semi-finals this season.

Coggeshall Town began well and took a 2-0 half-time lead, both goals being netted by Stacey Dawes, one being a penalty.

Boutwell pulled a goal back for Social, but John Milward rounded off a great day for Coggeshall with his sides third goal, and Town will now play either Woodham Town or Templar, at Heybridge Swifts Football Club, in the final.
