Billericay racing driver Matt Davies cannot wait until this weekend's Formula Three round at Donington after a successful run at Oulton Park.

Matt drove his Renault Elf Promatecme car to fourth place on Monday as he went from strength to strength at the Cheshire circuit.

He had started tenth fastest in Sunday's morning qualifying session but moved up to sixth in the afternoon as his mechanics tweaked the car's settings.

"It's a shame the weekend had to end," said Matt, who tends to race better than he qualifies.

"We went from tenth to sixth to fourth. Now I just can't wait until next weekend at Donington to keep the momentum going."

Matt made a storming start to the race and moved up to fourth entering Old Hall, the first corner at Oulton Park.

He then remained behind the front three of Thomas Scheckter, Antonio Pizzonia - who has been linked with Formula 1 team Benetton as a replacement for Alexander Wurz - and his Renault team-mate Andy Priaulx.

The Towcester-based driver put his Renault third on the grid and brought it home in the same position.

"The drivers have done really well this weekend," said team boss Serge Saulnier.

"We managed to be just two tenths of a second off pole after qualifying and then just a tenth of a second off the fastest lap in the race.

"We're not far away. I hope that before long we'll be turning the third and fourth places into a first and second."
