An incredible turnout of 172 riders competed at Round Two of the Regional Summer Series meeting at Milton Keynes on Sunday attracting 42 newcomers to the sport.

It was also another good afternoon's racing from the 15 Braintree BMX Club's riders with Chloe Sherwood producing her best performance to date taking a third place and two seconds in the heats with an excellent third in an exciting final.

Matthew Sewell found it competitive in the eight year olds and took a good fourth in his final whilst brother Steven, nine, had recovered well from a fall in the heats and with an extra push managed a worthy second in the A final.

Also in that final was Bradley Watts in seventh after a superb best placed second in the heats and in a very close B final, Ashley Hall took third.

Katie Roberts had to settle for sixth places all afternoon in the girls races and Liam Vant was in fifth places in all his 10-year-old boys races but was happier to win the B final.

Liam Sherwood took fourth places in his heats but struggled to stay with the leaders in the A final to finish eighth.

Back racing in the 11 year olds, James Barker suffered from falls in two of his heats, but in a tremendous final pulled back to take a creditable second.

In the 12 year olds, Jonathan Roberts rode his best meeting so far taking two thirds and a second and with his supporters urging him on he finished a good fourth in his final.

Kelvin Vant and Martin Simmons were battling against each other in the 13 year olds heats and Kelvin held onto the third place in the final just ahead of Martin.

The increasingly competitive 16-year-old races saw Darren Eastall in the tougher of the two heats but a fall put him into the B final which he won, while in the other heats Ryan Everitt took another three fine wins with Alex Humphrey in two seconds and a third.

Both went through to the A final and in a furiously fought race Ryan looked set for a good place when he fell but recovered to finish seventh and Alex was pleased to cross the finish line in third place.

The next round is the big one for Braintree as they host Round Three this Sunday starting at 12.30pm. Registration closes at 11am and for more details telephone David Humphrey on 01376 341806.
