Heybridge Swifts manager Liam Cutbush has swooped to re-sign former Swift John Pollard on a two-year contract after a spell with St. Albans.

Pollard, an experienced defender or midfielder, returns to his roots after a spell in Hertfordshire, where he was taken by former Swifts manager Garry Hill.

Cutbush is looking to add at least two more new faces to last season's squad, all of whom have been offered terms for next season.

Skipper Gary Waters has already signed a contract, as have Nicky Haydon, Ian Wiles, Terry Warwick, Kris Lee, Sean Caton, Dave Kreyling, Kingsley Banks, Adam Gillespie and Mark Cranfield.

But Cutbush's assistant, former U's striker Tony Adcock, has not been retained, with ex-manager Robbie Nihill returning to the dressing room as the manager's number two.

An impressive list of pre-season friendlies has also been announced, including a visit from Ipswich Town as part of the deal that took goalkeeper James Pullen to Portman Road last season.
