Publicity hungry artistic and creative groups in Brentwood, Billericay and Ongar are being offered the chance to appear on TV screens across Essex.

South East Television and Media Workshop, the Basildon-based cable television company behind the successful Get A New Life show, is launching a weekly magazine programme focusing on Essex's thriving arts scene.

Three pilot additions of the show - which has the working title Expressions - are being filmed to be broadcast over the next two months on channel 54 of the Telewest cable service. And with a long-running series planned for September, talented subjects are very much in demand.

Producer Tony Spiers said: "We think the new programme will be a first. It will offer a showcase for local talent and show viewers how they can develop their own artistic interests.

"We plan to feature a whole range of artistic and creative work - from body painting to ballet, from opera to jazz - and we would love to hear from any organisations or individuals around the county who are active in the arts scene."

The new programme will also provide an opportunity for some of the workshop's trainees to gain hands-on experience in TV production by taking part in real programmes.

The workshop's previous show Get A New Life, came off the air earlier this year after two years of broadcasting to the people of Essex.
