A nightclub for under-18s is set to be held at Charter Hall in Colchester.

The event, due to take place tonight (Friday) from 8pm to midnight, is expected to attract up to 800 teenagers.

It is the first time the monthly Deep nightclub will be held at Charter Hall, with four DJs from Colchester and London playing a mix of chart, garage, trance, house and drum and base music.

There will also be large screen video visuals, dance stages and areas where those who want to take a break from dancing can sit and socialise.

Deep is run by Unity Promotions as part of Christian Youth Outreach and staff member Tim Abbott said: "This Deep promises to be a night to remember, and may even be Colchester's biggest under-18s event this year.

"However Deep is more than just a nightclub. Many of the young people who come get involved in other Unity Promotions activities, like weekends away or the creative arts workshops that we run."

Licensed door staff will search the teenagers when they arrive to make sure there is a safe and sober environment, and a team of experienced youth workers will be on hand to supervise throughout the event.

Deep is for teenagers aged 14 and over and proof of age may be required. Doors open at 7.30pm with last admissions at 9pm. Tickets are available from the box office on 01206 282020 priced £5 in advance or £6 on the night.
