Investigations are underway after a replica aircraft was damaged in an incident at Andrewsfield airfield, Stebbing.
The replica Sopwith Dove came to a halt, nose down, on the runway on Sunday night.
Other light aircraft were diverted to nearby airfields until the runway was cleared.
Stephen Webb, of the Air Accident Investigation Branch, said no-one was injured and the incident was regarded as low level and the pilot would send in a report.
