A Colchester firm of solicitors could face a legal battle with the British Government as it represents five Serbian victims of a NATO bombing raid in Belgrade.
Fisher Jones Greenwood, based in Southway, is acting for the relatives of four employees killed at Radio Television Serbia (RTS) last year and a survivor of the bombing.
Another 12 people died in the raid on April 23, 1999.
The Colchester law firm are backing the Serbs in their fight for compensation from 17 NATO countries - including Britain - which they claim contravened international law.
They believe the states which took part in or approved the RTS raid went against the European Convention on Human Rights.
The case was lodged with the European Court of Human Rights in October last year where justices could eventually award damages if the Serbs' are successful.
Fisher Jones Greenwood is one of several UK law firms working on the case.
All the victims were employed as technical staff at RTS.
