Around £12,000 was taken in a wages snatch outside a Laindon store, police have revealed.

The money was grabbed from the back of a car believed to be owned by the manager of Sanders store, Powell Road, Laindon, at 9pm on Sunday.

Police have said two men appeared as the manager opened the boot of his car, and grabbed the cash.

They then drove off in a red Ford Escort towards Southfields.

A spokesman for Essex Police said an investigation had been launched into the incident.
