Police are looking for a man who posed as a worker for the water board to try to get into a woman's house.

The man visited the house in Pound Farm Drive, Dovercourt, and claimed he was checking to see if pipes needed replacing.

He was not let in and the woman told him to contact the letting agency she was dealing with.

Police checks revealed no-one from the water company was working in the area on that day.

The man is described as in his late 20s early 30s, 5ft 9ins to 6ft, short ginger hair and wearing blue jeans and a navy blue sweat shirt.

Anyone with information about the man should call Harwich police on 01255 241312 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
