Former pupils of Tabor High School's Panfield Lane site are being offered the chance to take their place in school history.

For just £5 they can have their names inscribed on a brick in the new school building, further up Panfield Lane.

The offer is open to anyone who was a pupil at Panfield Lane, formerly the Margaret Tabor School.

The scheme was announced by Parent Teacher Association chairman Phil Coulthard this week.

''Old pupils and staff can have their names etched in school history by sponsoring a brick in the new school building,'' he said.

Over 200 people packed Tabor High School's Middle School site for the recent last reunion.

The Panfield Lane building, which is to be demolished to make way for houses, will be used by the school for the last time on July 18.

The event, which included guided tours, memorabilia and archive film, is expected to raise over £1,000 for parent teacher association funds.

Mr Coulthard said: "While the evening revived many great memories it also helped the PTA raise vital funds and their thanks go out to all concerned.

"The money will be put to very good use when the final move of the school to the new Panfield Lane site is completed."
