Flyer Dan Holford, a former student at Colchester Royal Grammar School, has become the youngest navigator in the RAF.

Dan, 21, joined the RAF in 1998 and has just graduated as a fully-qualified navigator from No 3 Flying Training School at RAF College Cranwell, in Sleaford, Lincolnshire.

Now a Pilot Officer, Dan - who used to live in West Mersea - will serve with 15 (R) Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth where he will fly in Tornado aircraft.

Dan graduated at a ceremony at the Sleaford base under the watchful eye of Air Marshal Sir John Day, Air Member for Personnel and Commander-in-Chief Personnel and Training.

The 21-year-old also used to work as a sales assistant at Virgin Megastore in Colchester.
