This couple are set to go to court to battle for the right to stay in their beloved Laindon home.

Eighty-year-old Eric Cox has lived in his detached bungalow for 25 years with his wife, Margaret, 75, and daughter Antoinette.

He said he would be devastated to be made to leave. Tomorrow (Thursday) he will face Southend County Court to argue his case for staying put.

Basildon Council is seeking a repossession order, claiming the house is not fit for human habitation.
