The weather left hundreds of schoolchildren disappointed after their schools sports day was cancelled.
Children from schools in Witham, White Notley, Stisted and Rivenhall were due to take part in the small schools sports day at Wethersfield Primary School on Friday.
Organisers of the event had to cancel following the forecast of more rain for the afternoon, the recent weather having already left puddles in parts of the school grounds.
With schools about to break up for the summer holidays this week there are no plans to reschedule the event this year.
