Fyfield's Ross Zerafa was in fine form at the All England Schools Track and Field Championships in Sheffield last week.

Ross, 14, who attends Brentwood County High School, was representing Essex County Schools in the Junior Boys Under 15 Shot, and against more than 40 competitors, he finished third with a throw of 14m.01 to win the bronze medal.

His success was made even more exceptional, as he had only had four weeks coaching for the competition.

Ross has held the school record for the past three years, and he is also a contracted player for Southend United and has recently signed a two contract, which will take him up to a YTS offer.

The bronze medal he won at Sheffield will be added to Ross's array of trophies and medals which already adorn a cabinet and a wall at his Fyfield home.
