A mystery messenger claiming to be Victoria Beckham joined hundreds of Essex FM listeners in urging firemen who kidnapped DJ Martin Day for charity to keep him for good.

Posh is believed to have sent the following message entitled At Last Revenge to the Cash for Causes website chatboard: "Ha ha, it's your turn to be insulted and abused by the fab media!".

It is not known, however, whether the millionairess pledged any money for the Cash for Causes fund Martin was raising cash for.

It would appear that the star, whose mum lives on the Essex/Herts border in Goff's Oaks, is a regular listener.

In April she made an angry call to the James Bassam show when the DJ scolded hubby David Beckham for shaving his head.

An Essex FM spokesman said: "James played her call on air presuming it was a hoax. It was only when he'd put the phone down that he realised that it sounded like it could easily have been her."

Earlier this month Posh mingled incognito among other day trippers on a visit to Southend's Adventure Island with baby Brooklyn.

DJ Martin Day, who was kidnapped by burly Southend firefighters last Friday, had no idea what was happening as he was carried out of the building and into a waiting fire engine.

Listeners were asked to pledge money to support his release, or if like Posh, they held a grudge, to encourage his captivity.

Cash for Causes co-ordinator David Philpott said: "Martin really was put through his paces."

Meanwhile, web surfers could watch the dramatic pictures which were filmed on a digital camera and uploaded onto the Cash for Causes website.

The event was important in terms of raising awareness of the Cash for Causes website which includes an on-line auction where listeners can raise money by buying or donating unwanted goods.
