The Great Baddow Ladies four of Maureen Griffin, Sheila Brickel, Viv Haste and skip Jill Polley will compete on July 27 at Aveley BC against a team from Connaught BC, from Chingford in the final of the Essex County Women's Bowling Association Fours.

This follows on from Baddow's success in beating a team from Old Dagenham BC 25-14 in the semi-final at Falcon BC last week.

Whatever happens in the final, both teams will be on their way to Leamington for the National Championships in August.

Jill Polley said of Baddow's performance: "It is the first year we have played together as a four and we have had a good run through this year.

"At times we have battled on in dreadful weather conditions, so we are delighted to reach the County Final.

"We are all thrilled to be representing Essex at the National Championships in August at Leamington Spa, especially as it will be a first time for Maureen Griffin and Sheila Brickel. We will be hoping for further success."

Great Baddow Bowling Club Ladies captain Jean Wyatt, speaking on behalf of the club said: "We are delighted and proud of the teams achievement. We will all be keeping our fingers crossed for them in the coming final at Aveley, and of course when they go to Leamington."
