WICKFORD III 169-7

FIVES & HERONIANS 141-9

(Match drawn)

Wickford opener Keith Parminter batted well to give the home side a boost after winning the toss.

The hosts were at 100 for the loss of one wicket when the runs dried up in the middle order.

But Wickford reached 169-7 off of their 52 overs with Parminter (72) and M Debenham (48) being the main contributors.

In reply Fives never looked likely to threaten the target after good bowling from young Wickford openers Brendon Smith and David Barnes, who both took two wickets.

Wickford had two overs at the 11th man but couldn't claim his wicket, leaving the game drawn with Fives on 141-9 at the close.

Bluehouse 186-9

Chignal 164

(Bluehouse won by 22 runs)

Bluehouse maintained their promotion charge to Mid-Essex Division 2 with an important victory over third place Chignal.

Batting first Bluehouse reached 186-9 off 45 overs thanks largely to a splendid 74 by opening bat Andy Herridge.

He received support from Devan and Lynch. Halls and Cant were Chignal's best bowlers.

In reply, following a very tight opening 20 overs from Harrison and Seeley, Chignal were always struggling.

The other bowlers kept things tight and Chignal were left with too many runs to get in the final 10 overs.
