Claus Jensen appears to have chosen Charlton Athletic ahead of Ipswich Town after completing a medical at The Valley.

Bolton Wanderers accepted bids of £4 million from both clubs so it was down to Jensen to decide which club he wanted to sign for.

He held talks with Addicks' boss Alan Curbishley on Tuesday before travelling to Suffolk to meet Town boss George Burley and chairman David Sheepshanks.

The discussions went on for four hours before resuming on Wednesday morning and Burley had hoped Town's attractive brand of football would be the deciding factor in luring Jensen to Portman Road.

Meanwhile, Town are being linked with former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur star Neil Ruddock.

The 32-year-out is being tipped as a £750,000 target, but it seems unlikely Burley would bring another defender to Portman Road so soon after landing John Scales.

Fabian Wilnis missed Town's pre-season tour of the Baltic states after his wife went into labour on Wednesday night.
