The Demons Skater Hockey Club, one of the largest in the UK, organised the first ever Demon Skater Outdoor Challenge Cup seven a side tournament at the weekend.
The tournament was sponsored by Demon Skater (the inline & ice specialist store) in Harlow and was in association with the childrens society.
The event, at Great Dunmow, saw teams from Wigan, Oxford, Cambridge, London and Essex in competition.
Teams competed against each other with the first and second placed teams playing for the prestigious Demon Skater Outdoor Challenge trophy.
The two teams contesting the final were the hosts, the Demons, and the London Warriors.
The Demons took an early lead but the Warriors broke back and despite a five minute spell, when the Demons pulled their goalkeeper off and pressured the Warriors goal, the Warriors ran away with the title.
The Childrens Society received in the region of £500 from the event with support from local firms.
The Demons will be holding the second Simon Hilton memorial tournament near the anniversary of lost Assisant Captain of the Demon Slayers who sadly died from meningitis.
As with last year's event, the Meningitis Trust will be associated with the tournament and the Demons hope to raise funds for this worthwhile cause.
