Calls have begun to flood into a new insurance service centre which is expected to create more than 100 jobs.

Marsh, one of the country's leading insurance services and Witham's largest employer, has officially opened the affinity group centre at its Newland Street offices.

Currently 40 new employees are manning the centre, which is Marsh's biggest call centre in the UK, and by the end of the year this is expected to rise to more than 100 as staff are recruited and trained.

Shaun Vincent, service centre director, said: "The significant investment put into the Marsh affinity group service centre will enable us to provide an unrivalled service to our clients.

"It also contributes to the platform for growth in this sector which will lead to further expansion in personnel over the coming year."

As an affinity group centre it will deal with providing the insurance for customers who receive packages when they buy a car, as well as voluntary employment benefit schemes.
