Members of Five Lakes Golf and Country Club near Maldon, Club Kingswood in Basildon and Fitness First in Ilford will be getting active during August to raise money for the British Olympic Appeal - a scheme dedicated to helping Olympic hopefuls.

Roger Black, who hopes to raise a lot of money for this worthy cause, fronts the challenge, developed by Tetley Tea - official sponsors of Team GB.

The challenge is to help Sydney - the loveable Tetley Tea Folk Character - travel the distance from London to Sydney (that's 10,500 miles!!).

All participants who complete the challenge will automatically be entered into a free prize draw to win a once in a lifetime trip to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

"Sydney's Challenge" is an extension of Tetley's "Get Moving" campaign, which encourages individuals to build exercise and a healthier diet into their everyday routine.

The "Get Moving" campaign was launched following the publication of the Tetley Activity 2000 report, which uncovered shocking results about the state of the nation's health - claiming that Britain is the most unfit nation in Europe.

Simply visit your local participating centre to sign up.

Alternatively, telephone the Get Moving help line on 0845 601 1714, and a starter pack and water bottle will be sent to your home.

Visit the Get Moving website at www.sydneysportsstuff.co.uk to download the starter pack and find out which leisure centres are participating in your area.

One can also receive personal advice from experts at the British Olympic Medical Centre (BOMC) on what exercise/activity you should be doing to improve your health and lifestyle.
