A Battlesbridge man is set to make his way into the Guinness World Records book after recently rowing the width of Britain.
Roy Hart, 54, who rowed for up to 11 hours a day for around two weeks, is believed to be the first person to row his way across the country and is now waiting for confirmation of his place in the definitive records book.
The grandfather who owns Battlesbridge ski shop, Ski Tex, began his voyage in Portishead, Bristol, in his small boat, The Imp, and finished at the Thames estuary, negating no less than 29 locks and covering more than 265 miles.
Intrepid Roy, who raised £700 on his trip for the RNLI, says his legs are still recovering: "When you row, your heels dig into the bottom of the boat and I'm still hobbling about."
