Bluehouse 185-9

Canvey Island 186-7

(Canvey won by three wickets)

Canvey pulled off a remarkable victory over Bluehouse in a game they simply never looked like winning.

Even though Dave Shroder claimed the club's first five-wicket haul of the season with 5-36, Bluehouse always kept the scoreboard ticking and set a competitive target of 186.

Canvey looked out of it at 18-3 and 40-5, but skipper Paul Ward and Lee Jack, playing only his second game, launched a remarkable rescue act.

Joining his captain with the score at only 88, number nine Jack (21 not out) doggedly held his end up as the runs started flowing at the other end.

Ward managed to farm most of the bowling and, with 92 runs coming in the last ten overs, he hit a matchwinning unbeaten 100.

Canvey Island 214-6

East London 196

(Canvey won by 18 runs)

A classy 108 from Terry Snowdon was the centrepiece of another League victory for the Islanders.

Snowdon was in peak form with 12 boundaries and shared in a stand of 100 for the fifth wicket with Gary Burton (35). Four run outs did not help the East London cause.
