Premier Division: Arnold a Waltham winner

Bottom of the table Old Chelmsfordians dismissed visitors Little Waltham for 175 with Phil Arnold (31) top-scoring. Dave Grainger took four for 45 and Simon Trowell two for 37.

With Arnold in form with ball as well as bat, his four for 39 helped bowl out OC's for 144, Hodivala (27) the only old boys' player to shine with the bat.

Tillingham's winning streak came to an end on Saturday, but only just as they met up with leaders Aythorpe Roding .

Tillingham made 154 with Jimmy Chapman (49) and Barry Witten (46) the main contributors.

Aythorpe got off to a good start, with Richard Dunmow (42) seeing them to 80 for one, but then Chris Rowlands struck for the visitors, taking three wickets in one over and ending with five for 49.

Neil Culleton hit a brisk 31 before Steve Chambers and Steven Reynolds saw Aythorpe to 155 for seven and a three wicket victory.

High Roding restricted hosts South Woodham Ferrers to 165 for six, Matt Bridger (48) top scoring.

High Roding made the runs but with only two wickets remaining, as Steve Chapman took three for 19 and Rob Haine three for 25.

Bentley totalled 234 for eight against visitors Great Waltham .

Tom Johnson (62) and Gavin Hammond (48) top scored, while Stuart Reeve took three for 62.

Gary Bloom then hit 37 as Waltham were bowled out for 125, Gavin Johnson taking four for 32.

At Springfield ,Stock were bowled out for 150, Woodwards taking four for 28.

In the reply Dave Curtis scored 63 and Scott Ellis 44 as Springfield reached 151 for three for a seven wicket victory.

Division One: Allen steers Hatfield Peverel to another win

Hatfield Peverel retained their unbeaten record with Saturday's slender three wicket win at Ingatestone.

The home side made 161 for eight, Richard Eaton scoring 67, and Martin Allen returning four for 36.

The reply started well with Luke Stephens making 36 but things weren't going to plan until Martin Allen came in to hit a rapid unbeaten 33 to see the visitors home to 163 for seven. Dean Todd took three for 36 and Adam Pudney three for 40.

Curtis Edgington took five for 41 as South Weald restricted visitors Writtle to 181 for eight.

Weald skipper Gary Fisher then scored an unbeaten 78 as his side made 184 for two to stay second.

Corringham got back to winning ways by beating Galleywood . Mark Bridger top scored with 83 as Corringham reached 261 for eight, Valentine claiming four for 54.

In the reply, Steve Dupree hit 49 and Valentine 30 not out, but with Malcom Hubbard taking four for 36, Galleywood's innings ended on 203 for nine.

Great Wakering beat Great Baddow by 70 runs. Peter Streames scored 113 not out, Chris Shelley 36 not out and Phil Adcock 42 as Wakering totalled 251 for three.

For Baddow, Pulham (54) and Wyatt (40) shared 80 for the first wicket, but after that stand had been broken the rest of the order was whittled down to see Baddow finish on 181 for nine.

Danbury totalled 220 for eight against Laindon Taverners , with James Banfield (87) top-scoring.

The Taverners had Nick Goodey (40) and Trevor Linahan (32) in form, but they were eventually bowled out for 151, Simon Bowring taking three for 26 off 12 overs.

Division Two: Totham triumph over Terling

High Easter travelled to Woodham Mortimer where the nine man home side amassed 190 for seven, the main contributor being M Coulson with 65.

The visitors then struggled against inspired fielding and bowling, particularly the bowling of T Mason (5-50 in 12 overs) and J Biggs (2-21 in 12 overs) but with G. Chinnery making 57 they finally managed to scrape a one wicket win in the 44th over with a reply of 191 for nine.

Little Baddow stuttered to 56 for four before as Robinson (64) and D Vose (48) helped guide the innings to 238 for eight against Broomfield , for whom M Alexander (2-21 in 12 overs) and A Pine (3-64) were the main wicket-takers.

After tea, S. Dance (69) and Alexander (37) led the way, but the total proved just too much and the innings finished 14 runs short of the target on 224 for eight. D. Blaydes took four for 51 and P. Barrett two for 38.

Burnham Sports were dismissed for 166 at Great Burstead , M Briggs taking five for 31 in 12 overs and A Stevens two for 30 in 11 overs.

The hosts then made light work of the reply as A Taylor (44) guided them to a winning total of 167 for four.

Great Totham were invited to bat by visitorsTerling and with runs coming from P Willingale (97), J Owen (70) and N Phillips (37 n.o), they totalled 272 for five.

This score proved barely enough, however, as the visiting batsmen, led by A Bailey (63) made a determined effort to reach their target but eventually finished 12 runs short on 260 for eight.

Rayleigh travelled to Ekco Monarchs where the home side, with contributions from C Simpson (88), P Jones (44) and Irvine (30) reached 244 for seven, Stoney taking three for 37.

In the response, Eldridge (58) batted well, but he failed to receive sufficient support from other batsmen and his side were dismissed for 180, A. Blunt returning four for 32.
