Colne Valley Golf Club owner Paul Curry still has a chance to finish high in the standings at a US tournament.
Curry is five shots behind with eight holes to play at the rain-interrupted $2.6 million John Deere Classic competition in Illinois.
The Colchester-born player, who had been leading after the first round, will today finish the tournament behind schedule with American Michael Clark out in front by one stroke at 17 under.
Dad Bob Curry said his son was still confident of a top ten finish: "He's been playing well but not sinking the kind of putts which made him leader after the first day.
"There are about 20 golfers within a few shots of the leader so it's in the lap of the gods. But Paul's pleased with his performance regardless of the final outcome."
