Billericay Town boss Gary Calder continues his relentless search for new striking talent tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

Calder has called on Richard Dunwell in his latest bid to find someone to fill a striking role at New Lodge this season.

Dunwell was a regular marksmen for Enfield when Calder was boss at the Ryman League Premier Division club the season before last and continued with them last term.

But Dunwell has a run out with Town tomorrow as they bring their friendly campaign to an end with a home clash against Crawley Town (3pm).

Calder, with last season's front-runners Colin Simpson and Stafford Browne having moved on to pastures new, has made it plain that he will not be rushed into a decision.

And if no new names are brought in, he will happily start the season with Joe Baker and Lee Williams in the front-running roles - although both are probably more effective in different positions than out-and-out strikers. Alternatively, versatile Kirk Game could be pushed forward.

Said Calder: "Richard Dunwell is coming along tomorrow to play. We'll see how things go and take it from there.

"There is also one other possible striker deal on the back burner, but I won't rush into anything.

"When I do sign someone I have got to be confident that it's someone who will do the business for us and fit into the set-up."

Calder's side enjoyed an excellent finish to last season and have looked pretty strong in warm-up games so far, particularly in defence where only two goals have been conceded in four games.

Both of those came against New Lodge tenants Chelmsford City, and goalkeeper Paul Newell and young ex-Arsenal defender Jeff Woolsey, both from last season's champions Dagenham, look set to be excellent additions.

Woolsey's arrival during the latter months of the last campaign on loan was reckoned to be a major contributory factor in the highly-successful end of season.

Tomorrow, with only Simon Spencer, best man at a wedding, likely to be missing, Billericay will almost certainly give a run-out to all their first team squad.
