The first-ever carnival on Colchester's Greenstead estate proved to be a day of fun for all the family.
The event, which took place on the Magnolia Field on Saturday, attracted visitors not just from the estate but from across the area.
Although there was not a traditional carnival procession, as such, the event had entertainment, stalls, music and a good helping of community spirit.
Organised by the Greenstead Community Association with Colchester Council funding the event looks set to be repeated in the future.
Community Association Member Roberta Provins said: "It was a great day and I certainly enjoyed it as did everyone I spoke to.
"The future of the event will be discussed at the Community Association meeting on Wednesday but I would hope for a bigger and better carnival next year with more time to prepare and a bigger organising committee."
