Pupils at a Westcliff school were decked out in their finest blue and pink clothes to raise money for a cause close to their hearts.

The children of Westborough Primary School in MacDonald Avenue were allowed to choose between wearing pink or blue instead of their school uniforms.

The school has chosen the Cancer Research Campaign as its nominated charity for the year after special needs teacher Iris Parker died from breast cancer.

All the money from the non-uniform event will go towards the fund.

At least £200 was raised during the day as pupils swapped their school uniforms for their favourite blue and pink outfits.

Deputy headteacher Geri Bennett said some of the boys wore pink while girls turned out in all shades of blue.

Colourful - pupils Hamza Modi, Daniel Mitchell, Mehmet Ebeoglu, Hollie Aloi, Emily Hawkyard and Caroline Howe got all dressed up for cancer research
