Southend United owner Ron Martin revealed that Blues should have a new chairman in place within a month.

Former Shrimpers supremo John Main was removed from the board at an extraordinary general meeting on August 30. "A new chairman should be in place at Roots Hall within four weeks," Martin said.

Martin also confirmed that long-time director Bill Kelleway would be leaving the Southend board today to concentrate on his business interests.

Hi-Tech boss Frank van Wezel will also be joining the board before he flies off to America tomorrow.

"We need to restructure the board at Southend," added Martin.

"We're sad to lose Bill as he is a very nice man and has given a lot of support to Southend United over the years, but we're also glad to welcome Frank to the club.

"The board needs to be strengthened and I will looking to bring more new faces to Roots Hall in the future."
