Essex County Cricket Club are ready to co-operate fully in any "official investigation" alleging match-fixing in two games involving Lancashire back in August 1991.
David East, the county's chief executive, said today (Monday): "I haven't received any formal request from the England and Wales Cricket Board or the police about the matches, but if I do we will co-operate fully."
East added: "I wasn't involved with Essex at the time of the original investigations. But I understand my predecessor Peter Edwards undertook vigorous investigations within the club and all the players involved were spoken to and subsequently no action was taken."
Former Essex all-rounder Don Topley, a player in both games involved, made the initial allegations of match fixing in national newspaper articles in the winter of 1994-95.
