The body of a man was found in mud by the River Crouch on Wednesday morning.
Two men discovered the body on the Battlesbridge side of Hayes Farm Caravan Park at around 8am. Police, who are waiting to speak to the next of kin, say they believe the man to be in his 60s and from the Hullbridge side of the river.
A police spokeswoman added that at present the death is not being treated as suspicious.
