The Southend Borough Combination Veterans League programme mainly centred on the Charity Cup First round.

Holders Fords won the day's only all Premier clash, beating Canvey Island 4-0 with Lee Williams netting three.

In the second round they will meet Third Division Chalkwell United, who pulled off a minor shock with a 1-0 win at Nicholas Colts, Standon scoring.

Ekco FDR were the only other Premier casualties, losing 2-0 at home to First Division strugglers Stambridge United. Parker and Byford were on target.

Stambridge will now play Courtlands Park, who beat William de Ferrers 5-1 with Judd and Pearce both grabbing braces.

Pegasus were the day's top scorers, netting 13 against Lions without reply. They now face Rochford in the second round after the latter disposed of Milton Athletic 5-2 with Wright's treble being a key factor.
