A woman left blinded after she was viciously beaten with a pickaxe handle has told how she feared for her life.
Josephine Peachey was left without any vision in her left eye following the brutal attack at her home in Grays - all for just £40.
The 52-year-old, was set upon by three thugs after they knocked at her door in Marshfoot Road, early on Friday.
After demanding money, they struck her continually around the head with the handle, while they ransacked the house.
She said: "I was absolutely terrified. My face was full of blood and I could not see anything out of my left eye after the first blow. I thought I was going to die."
One thug is in his early 20s, about 5ft 6ins, slim, with black hair in a pudding basin style. Another thug is in his early 20s, thin, with short brown hair.
