Braintree have high hopes ahead of tonight's (Tuesday's) FA Trophy first round replay with Essex rivals Romford at Cressing Road.

Manager Ben Embery was pleased with the 2-2 draw at their divisional rivals on Sunday, a game in which Robbie Reinelt and Tommy Noble were on target.

And he hopes that, despite injuries to five key players, his men can finish off the job tonight.

Bradley Quinton, Terry Howard, Leon Gutzmore, Gavin Cowan and goalkeeper Dean Mahoney are all out - Tony Cherry continues to deputise for the latter.

Embery said: "We did the hard work on Sunday so hopefully now we can reap the benefits. But we won't be taking Romford lightly - they work tremendously hard for each other."

The rest of the non-league schedule faces further disruption tonight (Tuesday) because of the wet weather.

Maldon boss Colin Wallington said his side's clash at home to Soham in the Jewson League Cup first round was "extremely doubtful".

Wallington will be missing centre-half Craig Dennis, who has a shoulder injury.

In the same competition, Tiptree's contest at home to Felixstowe and Walton United is also likely to be postponed.

Halstead are set to visit Ely in the Jewson League premier division but a pitch inspection will take place later today. Manager Paul Grimsey will be without Peter Emerick (work commitments), James Keeble (calf injury), Glen Revell (broken thumb) and Matt Chinnery if the game goes ahead.

However, the premier division game between Clacton and Woodbridge is still scheduled to be played.

Clacton boss Steve Dowman will be missing Steve Howe (knee) and Paul Champ (thigh). Mark Farthing returns from suspension although Glen Hepburn is still serving a three-month ban.

Brightlingsea are due to travel to Cornard in the Jewson League first division cup, first round second leg.

Meanwhile, Heybridge top scorer Kris Lee is likely to be restored to their starting line-up for their Ryman League premier division visit to Chesham. Gary Waters and Joel Rogers are both struggling with ankle injuries.
