Richard Wright is being tipped to start his second match for England in next week's friendly showdown with Italy.

The Ipswich Town goalkeeper looks set to replace David James - favoured by Kevin Keegan during his last few matches as coach - in the national side's pecking order.

And with fellow shotstoppers David Seaman and Nigel Martyn currently injured, there is a strong chance Wright will be handed the gloves for next Wednesday's clash.

He started a friendly in Malta just before Euro 2000 but faces competition this time around from Leicester City's Tim Flowers and Leeds United's Paul Robinson.

Jamie Clapham, who has earned rave reviews this season following a string of polished displays, will also be keeping his fingers crossed for a call-up.

Hermann Hreidarsson has been called up by Iceland for their friendly with Poland later this month.

The centre-half will join Matt Holland on international duty after the Town skipper was picked for the Republic of Ireland's clash with Finland.

Town might be without Jim Magilton for the visit of Charlton Athletic to Portman Road on Saturday.

The midfielder took a knock to his ankle during the weekend defeat at Newcastle United and could miss his first game of the season if he fails to recover.

Meanwhile, Addicks defender Chris Powell has delivered a warning to Ipswich.

He said: "We know our away performances have to pick up because we were poor at both Aston Villa and Leeds. We owe Ipswich this weekend after they beat us home and away last season."

Ipswich have reduced the prices of children's tickets for their Worthington Cup fourth round tie with Coventry City on November 28 to £3.
