Phil O'Leary, the club coach at the Gidea Park Tennis Club, recently represented Great Britain in Paraguay.

Phil was playing in the British Over 45 team which competed in the Dubler Cup. He had singles victories as the national team won through their qualifying group with wins over Ireland and Canada.

That put Britain into the quarter finals and a match against USA.

O'Leary lost his singles in this match which went to a doubles decider which Great Britain lost.

In the 5/6th place play off Great Britain met Austria and won 2-1 with Phil winning his singles.

His record was a creditable three wins out of four matches.

Last week, O'Leary moved on to play in the World Over 45 championships being played in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

As the 13th ranked player in the world he was seeded 13th.

O'Leary then had victories over an Argentinian and a German to reach his seeded place in the last 16 where he lost to an Austrian.

He also played in the men's doubles with his Middlesex partner, Richard Leslie but they lost out to the No 3 seeds.
