Southend United's loan goalkeeper Andy Woodman went into Saturday's Roots Hall meeting with Macclesfield Town admitting he faced an uncertain future.

The Brentford custodian has been an ever-present for Blues this season. He has played 18 league and cup games, conceding 21 goals, and has kept seven clean sheets.

However, the 29-year-old returned to Griffin Park after the Macclesfield game, still unsure about a long-term future with the Seasiders.

"I'd love to sign for Southend, but I don't know what's happening," admitted Woodman. "I know the manager's hands are tied with the finances, but nobody has made me a serious offer yet."

Woodman revealed that Brentford have granted him a free transfer and he wants Blues to take advantage.

"Brentford have scrapped the £50,000 price tag they put on my head which can hopefully help me seal a permanent move to Roots Hall," he added.

"I think David Webb is going to take this club places and I want to be part of that. I'm willing to be reasonable over my wage demands, but somebody at the club needs to open negotiations first."
