A member of the England women's football team has admitted taking drugs following a random test at Five Lakes Golf and Country Club.
The England team were staying at the complex in Tolleshunt Knights, near Maldon, ahead of tonight's (Tuesday's) crucial European Championship play-off against the Ukraine at Leyton Orient's Brisbane Road ground.
As part of the normal FA procedures the team took part in a random drug test.
Following the test, Everton's Sammy Britton - England's third most experienced player in the squad with 44 caps - admitted using marijuana.
The FA are now awaiting results of the test before taking any disciplinary action.
Britton said: "I feel terribly ashamed of letting down the England team, women's football and myself. I will accept the consequences of my actions."
