A 58-year-old man is due to appear before magistrates charged with aggravated burglary and false imprisonment of a woman with an imitation handgun.
James Yardley, of no fixed address, but formerly of Blackthorn Avenue, Colchester, is due to appear at the town's magistrates court today (Tuesday).
It follows an incident on the Greenstead Estate on Sunday.
