Police in Billericay have issued a warning to those living at home alone after two conmen frightened a woman and broke into her house.
The men, posing as officials from the water board, targeted a house in Norsey Road. One male distracted the woman at the door.
She then became aware of another running past her out of her bedroom. Nothing is thought to have been stolen.
The first male is described as white, slight build, 5ft 6ins, speaking in a broken accent, wearing a dark blue anorak and jeans.
His colleague was stockily built, 5ft 6ins, curly hair and wearing a thick, heavy dark jumper.
If you have any information about the incident, or have seen these men operating, contact Billericay police 01277 631212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 .
