The results are out and it is official - school is great.

That is the opinion of pupils at the John Bramston School in Witham following the publication of an independent survey of students.

The report, conducted by the University of Keele education department, involved a quarter of the students and followed on from a similar survey held two years ago.

Ted Rowley, principal at the school, said: "This survey aims to record the view of students about school life.

"The results show our students approve of the improvements we have made since 1998 and that is excellent news."

In the report students have given the Spinks Lane school a massive seal of approval.

One of the many findings was that the amount of students at the school who enjoyed their lessons was up 13 per cent to 79 per cent.

And although just over half of the pupils said they enjoyed life at school, 81 per cent of them thought the school was good.

In addition to those figures, 54 per cent of the students said they took part in extra curricular activities - eight per cent higher than the national average.

Mr Rowley added: "The overall result of the survey is now being studied by staff so that we can use them to form future development plans so that our rate of progress continues to improve."
