A Colchester family are fast becoming experts in the art of how to be a successful lollipop person at the town's schools.
Dad Stan Phillips has just started work at Old Heath Community Primary School, helping pupils cross Old Heath Road.
His sister-in-laws Sharmayne Pearce and Sharon Wilson are already working at school crossing patrols at Hazelmere Infant and Junior Schools, while his wife Sam left her job as a lollipop person at St John's Primary School earlier this year.
Mr Phillips, 40, of Wilson Marriage Road, has filled a long-standing vacancy at the school, which has been without a lollipop person on the road for a couple of years.
Mr Phillips says the job fits in perfectly with his role as a child-minder at home - the couple created a family with seven children when they moved in together a few years ago - as he won't have to work during the holidays.
"I know a lot of the mums and dads at the school because my children used to go there," he said.
Now there is a lollipop person for Old Heath Road, county school crossing patrol supervisor Lynn Wadey said she is appealing to parents to stop parking on the road outside the school where Mr Phillips is now working.
Lollipop people are urgently needed in Colchester for Hamilton Road, North County and St John's Green schools. For more information contact Lynn Wadey on 01255 886547.
