St Michael's Parish Church in Braintree is gearing up to welcome a new vicar, Reverend Charles Mason.
Mr Mason, 49, currently a vicar at a church in West Hampstead and Area Dean of North Camden, will be taking up his duties in mid January.
He began his career as a solicitor but an increased involvement with his church sparked a change of direction and saw him training for the Anglican ministry.
He has been based in West Hampstead for the past 12 years and is looking forward to his move to Essex.
"I felt that I needed a change and St Michael's seemed to be exactly the type of church I was looking for," he said.
Mr Mason is married to Harsha, a teacher and has four school aged children, Edward, Lydia, Harriot and Henry.
He will be formally instituted by the Bishop of Chelmsford, the Rt Rev John Perry and inducted and installed by the Archdeacon of Colchester, the Venerable Martin Wallace at 4pm on Sunday, January 14 at St Michael's Church.
