Hermann Hreidarsson is hungry to find the net on a more regular basis after breaking his goal duck for Ipswich Town.

The Icelandic international was on target with a bullet header as the Blues beat Manchester City 3-2 to move third in the Premiership.

Two-goal hero Marcus Stewart scored either side of Hreidarsson's effort before City staged a late comeback through Paulo Wanchope and Steve Howey.

But it was the defender wearing the biggest smile at the final whistle after playing a starring role in Town's third consecutive win.

He said: "It felt great to get my first goal for Ipswich but the most important thing was to hold on for the three points.

"The corner from Jermaine Wright was perfect and I was able to get away from my marker and get plenty of power behind the header. It was great to see the ball fly in.

"I've been getting closer and closer to scoring recently and it's been a bit frustrating at times. But now I've got my first I hope there will be plenty more to come.

"When I play at left-back I'm able to get in some good goalscoring positions because I push forward as much as I can."

Stewart is now the sixth top scorer in the Premiership after hitting his eighth and ninth goals of the season at Maine Road.

He said: "It was a wonderful cross by Jamie Clapham for my first goal. I saw it quite late but was obviously delighted to get a glancing header on target.

"It was a great game to play in. We produced some lovely football to open up a three-goal lead but lost the momentum in the last half hour or so.

"I thought David Johnson came on and did very well. He's been unlucky not to have scored so far this season.

"That was certainly the case when he hit the post on Saturday and also with the header at Bradford."
