County engineers say Saturday is a crucial day for trying out new spiral lane lines on the notorious Odeon roundabout at Chelmsford.
The new layout is designed to guide cars gradually on their intended path off the roundabout reducing queueing at the same time.
Said spokesman Colin Cranley: "It is particularly important for the traffic coming from the Army and Navy and wanting to shop at the Meadows. It gives them a much bigger stacking area and helps keep them on course for the right exit."
