Motor enthusiast Jim Pocklington is celebrating after a top gear performance in a saloon car race meeting at Brands Hatch.

Jim, 37, of Alpha Road, Hutton, builds and races his own saloon cars and in the Guy Fawkes Trophy meeting he notched up second, third and fourth places in three races.

His achievement is all the more impressive as he has only been competing for about five years.

Jim, who owns JP Autos, a body work and specialist welding company, said: "I've always been interested in motor racing since I was a little boy. This last bit of success has been nice because I was fairly late getting into it.

"The majority of drivers are younger and obviously the younger you are the less fear you have got. There is an element of successfulness through being fearless."
